DJP Update 11-7-2005 Expert Witness resolution passed at AMA House of 
Delegates
Breaking news today at AMA House of Delegates:

After getting approval by late resolution committee and then getting changes made by reference committee and finally, minor changes made 
during House of Delegates debate, the following resolution was approved at AMA House of Delegates Interim Meeting in Dallas, Texas 
on November 7, 2005

PILOT PROGRAM ON INDEPENDENT EXPERTS AND TESTIMONY IN CIVIL CASES 
(Introduced by Louisiana Delegation, Tennessee Delegation, and 
American Academy of Ophthalmology)

RESOLVED, That our American Medical Association applaud the pilot program established by the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical 
Society and the Chattanooga Bar Association that addresses issues surrounding the admissibility of expert testimony in civil cases and 
the ability of a trial judge to call an independent expert (Directive to Take Action); and

RESOLVED, That our AMA monitor the progress of the expert witness pilot established by the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society and the Chattanooga Bar Association and report to the House of Delegates (Directive to Take Action); and be it further

RESOLVED, That our AMA reaffirm existing policy H-265.994 which opposes unscientific or false testimony. (Reaffirm HOD Policy)
